back when I travelled exclusively in far left circles, I heard this stuff all the time. Wanting to meet women was predatory, and so was dressing in such a way that you might attract one. I remember one person telling me, with a straight face, that a man who showers and wears cologne before going out is being deliberately manipulative. Still, I hate it when people characterize a leftist fringe belief as a mainstream one, so I should emphasize that this IS a fringe belief but it got a lot more popular than it should have back in the 2010s and early 2020s.

Tbh I've habitually taken the "clerical error" approach. Or as I've described it, the "Narnia theory of love" - in the books, one of the peculiar properties of Narnia was that it was impossible for people who were looking for it to find it, it could only be stumbled into accidentally, and I conceptualise love in a similar way.

I am still single.
